Fees and Sessions

Initial Enquiry Call

A brief, confidential phone consultation is offered to help clarify whether NXCAP’s approach is a good fit for you with respect to what you’re wanting to address. During the call, you may be asked for a simple overview of what you’re experiencing and what you’re hoping to gain from the therapy process. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable, as well as ask questions to better understand how your work with NXCAP might look.  To arrange a call‑back, please get in touch via email or SMS.

Fees

Couples(60 min)$245.00
 (75 min)$280.00
 (90 min)$325.00
Individuals(60 min)$185.00
 (75 min)$215.00
 (90 min)$250.00

Session Pricing

Session fees vary by session length and whether the work is individual or couples. Longer sessions, such as 90 minutes, are priced differently as they allow for deeper exploration and require additional preparation. In some cases, two 90‑minute sessions may be more cost‑effective than three separate 60‑minute sessions.

An initial session may include a small additional fee for extended preparation, though this is often waived. Fees also reflect time spent outside the session reviewing and preparing your work to ensure consistent support.

If you’re experiencing financial difficulty, you’re welcome to reach out to discuss accessible options.

Medicare Rebates

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $101.55 per individual session. This can be applied to a set number of sessions each year (as approved by your GP), helping to reduce the overall cost of support. Sessions are paid in full at the time of your appointment, and the Medicare rebate is then processed back to you.

Please note: an individual mental health plan CANNOT be used for couples work under any circumstance. Couples therapy is a separate private cost and is not claimable under the Medicare system.

Private Health Insurance

If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim a rebate for individual or couples sessions, depending on your cover. Please check directly with your provider for details.

Extended Sessions

Sessions longer than 90 minutes are charged in 15-minute increments:

  • Individuals: $40 per 15 minutes
  • Couples: $50 per 15 minutes

Other Fees

Sessions that cover a host of complex issues, requiring extended paperwork or highly detailed note-taking may attract an additional fee. Sessions where a third-party is in attendance may attract an “Added-Person” fee to cover increased complexity.

These add-ons are as follows:

  • Late evening sessions extending beyond 6:30pm $45.00
  • Sessions with notable added complexity: $45.00
  • Third-party or extra person: $45.00 per person
  • Short-notice or urgent (“crisis”) sessions: $25.00

Cancellations & Missed Appointments

Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a fee, depending on the circumstances. Fee may be a portion or full price of session.

Additional Support & Documentation

Reports, letters, or additional correspondence may attract a fee. Fees start at $45 and are based on the time and complexity involved. Fees are based on an hourly rate of $120.00.

Payment

  • Session fees are payable at the time of your appointment.
  • For online sessions, payment is via invoice. If your first appointment is online, you will be contacted to arrange pre-payment.

Session Frequency

Many clients attend sessions fortnightly, or on a schedule that suits their time, needs, and budget.

How Many Sessions?

Therapy is a meaningful process that takes time, care, and commitment.

For some, a shorter period of support (6–12 sessions) may be enough. For others, especially where there are more complex or long-standing challenges, a longer timeframe may be helpful.

We can discuss what feels right for you and adjust as we go.

The Process of Change

Working through emotional pain, relationship challenge, or long-standing patterns, isn’t something that happens overnight. With the right support, meaningful transformation and lasting change is absolutely possible and deeply worthwhile. Reach out to learn more.

When Relationship Therapy May Not Be Suitable

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy is not appropriate in situations where there is active domestic violence.

If you, or someone you know, is in immediate danger, please call 000.

For support or information regarding domestic violence, you can contact 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732) or visit DV Connect.
