Other Terms
Counselling Sessions
A standard counselling sessions last for one hour. Sessions will take place at the time you arrange to meet with your counsellor, whether in-person or via digital media including phone, zoom etc. The frequency of counselling sessions is something you can discuss with your counsellor. The recommended frequency of counselling services will depend on each individual or couple.
If you are running late for a session, contact the counsellor as soon as possible. NextSteps Counselling reserves the right to reschedule your appointment if you are running late. This will depend on the counsellors work load and other client booked sessions. If you are late, in most cases the session will still end at the scheduled time, as the counsellor will have other client appointments. In most cases, if you do not show up for your session, or show up over 15 minutes late, you will need to book another one.
Cancellations
If for some reason you will be unable to attend your session, we kindly request that you email or phone your counsellor to arrange to reschedule at least 24 hours in advance. This gives other clients the opportunity to make use of that vacant spot. You can also cancel your appointment via a link provided in your appointment confirmation email or text message.
If you do not show for your scheduled session, your counsellor will send you an email to check-in and see if you would like to schedule another one. If sessions are missed on a consistent basis your counsellor may suggest postponing counselling until you feel ready or are more able to attend.
